Fiat 500 Gets Twinair Trim Level

Fiat is putting a lot behind its Twinair engines. They are now available on nearly every small car Fiat sells. Fiat is giving the 900cc, two-cylinder engine its own trim level in the Fiat 500 for 2012.

The Fiat Twinair 500 comes with the 85hp of the Twinair engine and comes with its own upscale interior on either the saloon or convertible models. To set the Twinair trim level apart, the car gets anthracite trim on the interior, matte black wheels and an optional piano black roof. It also gets sports seats and a burnished dashboard thanks to the Total Black interior. The Twinair 500 is also available with Fiat's Blue&Me removable navigation system by Tomtom.

The engine in the Twinair is well known by now. The 900cc, 85hp  turbocharged engine gets to 100km/h in 11 seconds and uses 4.0l/100km with the automatic transmission or 4.1l/100km with the manualwith start/stop as standard. It also produces 90h/km of CO2 with the automatic or 92g/km of CO2 with the manual. The Twinair engine won International Engine of the Year 2011.

To let drivers customize the Twinair 500 to the fullest there will also be the option package “byAbarth” that adds 16in wheels with Abarth hubs, side skirts, rear spoiler, racing graphics on the bonnet and sport pedals.

Fiat did not say what the Twinair 500 will retail for.
