Suzuki has declared the theme for its exhibit at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show as "small cars for a big future." It is showing three small, efficient cars at the show.
The first is the Regina concept, which Suzuki says is meant to show the look of its next global small car. The Regina uses a variety of ways to lighten the car and weighs just 730kg. Suzuki says that it uses a petrol engine that uses 3.1l/100km and produces 70g/km of CO2 but did not give power figures.
Next, the Q-Concept is meant to be a two-seat micro car. It is just 2.5 meters long with tandem seating and is designed by Suzuki to be ideal for trips less than 10km. Suzuki admits that it is meant to be something between a car and a motorcycle. The rear seat can be removed to allow for either a two-person child seat or for the Q-concept to be used as a delivery vehicle.
Finally, Suzuki will show an electric version of the Swift that comes with a range extender. Suzuki says that the average driver of a compact car in Japan drives 20km-30km per day. The electric Swift is capable of going that far purely on its electric battery.
Suzuki will have some other vehicles at the show that it has not released any pictures of yet. First, it will show a version of the Swift Sport based on the car's new chassis with a more powerful engine.
Suzuki also makes motorcycles, and it will have several at the Tokyo Auto Show.
It will have the electric e-Let's that has a range of 30km. It has roughly the same weight and power as the internal combustion model. Suzuki has been testing the e-Let's in Hamamatsu since 2010 and is moving the car closer towards production.
It will also have the Burgman Fuel-Cell Scooter, which is pictured in the gallery above. Suzuki first started testing the Burgman fuel cell in 2009 and continues to do so.
Suzuki will also have facelifted versions of the V-Strom 650 and GSX-R 1000.
