Electric Sports Car with Range Extender from Infiniti Coming at Geneva Motor Show in March

While the US arm of Infiniti is busy showing off new cars today, in Europe it is looking forward a few months to March 2012 where at the Geneva Auto Show, Infiniti will debut a new electric sports car concept with a range extender.

Details are still scant. Infiniti released two teaser images and said that the car would, "extend the potential for high performance, low emission electric cars."

"At the Geneva show next year, we will present our vision for a totally new kind of inspired premium performance car. Infiniti already has hybrid and clean diesel models on sale. And with an all-electric sedan on the way, the natural next step was to push the boundaries where performance and the environment intersect,” said Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd and Infiniti.

Mum is clearly the word for this new car. From the teaser images, ithe concept will definitely be a coupe, and it does not look like just an electrified version of the G-series.

Last week we showed you Nissan's line-up for the Tokyo Auto Show in a few weeks, and one of the cars that it will have there is an electric sports coupe. The styling of that car and this one are clearly different, but the proportions look like they could be about the same. Maybe what Infiniti will have in Geneva is its version of this car.

Of course this is all speculation at the moment, but take a look at the pictures and tell us what you think.

The Geneva Motor Show runs from March 3-13.
