Chrysler has unveiled the all-new 2011 Dodge Durango, which brings the American brand back to the sport utility (SUV) segment. The Durango received a complete makeover and will be leading the role of new models expected from Dodge for 2011.
According to Chrysler the new Durango “is a vehicle that delivers premium driving performance combined with SUV capability and crossover versatility.” This is possible thanks to its’ stiffened unibody structure which has been developed having in mind the driving enthusiast. For 2011 the Durango gets a sleek exterior design, a modern and spacious interior, and fuel-efficient and powerful powertrain options.
The third generation Durango will be available with two engine options: the standard fuel-efficient 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine and the 5.7-liter HEMI engine with fuel-saving, Multi-displacement system (MDS) four-cylinder mode. Both engines feature variable-valve timing (VVT) and are available with all-wheel drive.
The interior of the new Durango has also suffered a complete makeover from the same interior design studio that designed the interior in the Ram trucks and the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee. It comes with a luxurious interior covered with materials that are refined and soft to the touch. According to Chrysler the new Durango is very comfortable for all three rows of passengers and comes with a great amount of interior flexibility, offering 22 different seating configurations.
Chrysler underlines the fuel efficiency of the new Durango, which according to the brand can drive more than 500 miles, the distance from San on a single fuel tank.
The new 2011 Dodge Durango will be produced at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Mich., and will arrive in showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2010.
