Mechanically, the car is absolutely identical to the standard Continental GT Speed. It uses a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine with 616hp and 590lb-ft of torque, and eight-speed transmission, stiffened and lowered suspension, re-tuned power steering and all-wheel drive, like all Continental GT models. The convertible sits 0.1in (1mm) lower than the coupe at 54.8in, instead of 54.9in. Other upgrades over a standard Continental GT are 21in wheels, darkened chrome grille, 'rifled' exhaust tips, the Mulliner Driving Specification as standard, which upgrades the quality and amount of leather.

"Following the recent successful introduction of the GT Speed, the new GT Speed Convertible will appeal to drivers who seek the sensory thrills of the world’s fastest four-seat soft-top and the practicality of a year-round grand tourer, together with unrivalled levels of luxury and refinement. It is designed for those who accept no compromise," said company chairman and CEO Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber.

The powerful engine pushes the car to 60mph in 4.1 seconds or 100km/h in 4.4 seconds. Acceleration to 100mph (160km/h) takes 9.7 seconds. The car's top speed is 202mph (325km/h), 3mph (5km/h) slower than the coupe. The car includes a Sport Mode that increases throttle response, holds gears longer and opens a baffle in the exhaust to make the car sound a little meaner. Fuel economy in the US is 12mpg city, 20mpg highway and 15mpg combined.

The top is made from four layers of material, including a layer of sound insulation and is tested to operate between -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to +50°C). The seats feature integrated neck warmers that blow warm air over the driver's neck when the top is down. The convertible top, its motors and chassis stiffening bring the curb weight up to 5,500lbs, compared to 5,115lbs for the coupe.
