Active Tourer. Thought for young families the new Gran Tourer has space for seven passengers and becomes the first premium compact model to do so, creating a whole new segment.

Focused on spatial functionality and comfort the new 2 Series Gran Tourer, despite its compact dimensions (4556mm long, 1800mm wide and 1608mm high), offers a very spacious cabin with up to seven seats and a boot with 645-805 liters cargo volume.

The engine range of the new model will include five new turbo engines of three and four-cylinders with outputs between 116 and 192hp, with consumption between 3.9 and 6.4l/100km and CO2 emissions between 104 and 149g/km . In addition, with the 220d xDrive Gran Tourer version BMW will be the only brand to offer a premium compact vehicle with seven seats with four-wheel drive. The 220d xDrive Gran Tourer will be available on market launch.

In addition to the BMW ConnectedDrive infotainment system, the available options list includes a HUD display, which projects information in the driver's line of sight, and the Traffic Jam Assistant that helps the driver in traffic jams.

With the new 2 Series Gran Tourer, BMW will also launch a new app thought for kids. The "myKIDIO" (initially only available in Germany) will be useful for long journeys as it contains appropriate content for children and the family, including movies, series, audio books that can be seen on tablets, with the driver or front passenger being able to control everything that is displayed.

The model will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
