concept as well from the 90s.

BMW says that it began working on the Zagato Roadster just three months ago after the positive reaction that it received from Zagato Coupe in Italy. Like the Coupe, it was designed by BMW Group Head of Design Adrian van Hooydonk and Andrea Zagato.

“We set ourselves the challenge of preparing the car in time for the renowned Pebble Beach Concours. It was only with the expertise of both companies in the manufacture of high-end one-off cars and another display of outstanding teamwork that we were able to finish the car on schedule,” said van Hooydonk.

The design is very similar to the Coupe. The noses of the two cars are identical including the scallops out of the hood and sides. Everything forward of the doors on the two cars is the same. The Roadster drops the prominent ducktail from the Coupe for a flatter rear. There are two prominent roll hoops that from the rear appear to be the seats, but they are actually separate. There is also an integral spoiler built into the rear. It is painted with a special mixture that gives the car a liquid effect. When looking at it, the color shifts from dark grey to light silver. The Roadster wears 19in, five-spoke wheels.

The interior is trimmed in high quality, two-tone leather with contrasting stitching.

It is interesting to see BMW and Zagato continue to explore their partnership on cars. Like the Coupe, this car has a very dynamic-looking front-end. It would be nice to see BMW add some of these styling queues into the next Z4Z4 Gen.2BMW Z4 Gen.2Germany, 2009 > present42 versions
