The BMW 1 Series Coupé and Convertible has suffered some modifications and upgrades that are being presented by the German brand ahead of its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
A new front bumper with redesigned fog lights and redesigned Halogen headlights take both models apart from the previous versions. The Xenon headlights now feature an “eyebrow” that is formed by a line of LED. At the back of both 1 Series the headlights have also been changed with a more detailed appearance.
The biggest change in the new 1 Series is the Aero Curtain, a system that channels the airflow around the front of the car, reducing aerodynamic drag and consequently increasing efficiency.
Thanks to this feature, the CO2 emissions have been lowered throughout the range. For example, the 118d has been rated at 118 g/km of CO2. The 2.0-litre petrol versions feature values of CO2 emissions of 155g/km or below.
EfficientDynamics technologies will also be featuring in the restyled 1 Series Coupé and Convertible. For example the Auto Start-Stop is fitted to all petrol and diesel models (excluding versions with automatic transmission), while Diesel Particulate Filters, Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power Steering (excluding 135i), Intelligent Alternator Control and Optimum Shift Indicator for manual models are all standard throughout the range.
The new BMW 1 Series Coupé and Convertible will be reaching the markets in March 2011.
