has announced that it will bring its Qin hybrid sport sedan to Europe in early 2015. Though, it admits that the name will likely change for Europe.
The Qin is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and hybrid motor with a total system output of 291hp and 353lb-ft. It can reach 100km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 185km/h (115mph). Fuel economy is rated at 1.6l/100km. The vehicle can be plugged in to charge, but BYD has not disclosed how long it takes to fully charge the car yet. It also uses regenerative braking.
BYD claims that the car will come with a remote driving app that allows owners to maneuver the car at very low speeds from their smartphone, but it seems unlikely this will make it to the European model for legal reasons.
BYD has not announced European pricing for the Qin yet, but prices in China range from €23,725 to €26,225.
