Cars keep geting bigger. We posted BMW's new 3-series today, which is now bigger than a 5-series that was available in the early 90s. To cope, automakers have been introducing smaller versions of their cars. The BMW 1-series is a great example, and very soon Cadillac will introduce the ATS, a smaller car that allows Cadillac to let the CTS grow.
General Motors' brands have been using the Nüeburgring more and more for chassis development. We posted a video of the Camaro ZL1 racing around the track last week, and it has done the same thing with the Corvette ZR1 and Cadillac CTS.
The ATS will be a small luxury car that will likely be released in the US for sale in 2013. Not much is known about what will power the ATS. Although, a version of the turbocharged Ecotec four-cylinder seems likely.
