Ford is not the only one updating its line of police and serice vehicles, Dodge is creating a line of Durango models prepped for police and firefighting use.
The vehicle offers a 7,400lb towing capacity, 550 mile range and power from either the 3.6l Pentastar V6 or 5.7l Hemi V8. It will also be available in either rear- or all-wheel drive. The modifications for the service version include heavy duty brakes, heavy duty battery, 220-amp alternator, heavy duty water pump and engine oil cooler. It comes standard with stability control, roll mitigation, hill-start assist and trailer sway control.
“We’re incredibly excited to add the Dodge Durango Special Service to our line-up of law enforcement vehicles. Adding Durango to our current Dodge Charger Pursuit and Ram 1500 Special Service vehicles allows us to offer a full range of fleet sedan, SUV, and truck options to law enforcement and government agencies,” said Peter Grady, Vice President of Network Development and Fleet Operations.
Like the regular Durango, it has a customizable rear cargo area and under-floor storage compartments. It comes without the third row of seats from the regular car and is pre-wired for a spot light. It also has an extra dome light in the rear and separate heating and air conditioning control for the second row of seats.
It comes with a 5 year/100,000 warranty.
