Dacia Duster: the low-cost SUV is arriving

The Dacia Duster is arriving this month to the markets. The sixth model from the Romanian brand is a robust, spacious, easy-to-use and affordable off-roader. Dacia’s global ambition with the Duster is to prove that it is possible to produce an all-terrain vehicle that is not only functional and affordable, but also more respectful of the environment.

Although it is very compact, the Duster still is an unmistakable 4x4 with its wide wheelarches, the imposing lines of the chrome grille and the sump guard. The high ground clearance, defined wheelarches and protective mouldings help enhancing its 4x4 DNA. The Duster was developed on the B0/Logan platform which is known for its strength, reliability and durability.

The Dacia Duster is available with three different powertrains with 4x2 and 4x4 versions: one petrol engine and two diesel engines.

The diesel range, composed by the the dCi 85 (63kW) and the dCi 110 (80kW) is set to combine performance with a low fuel consumption. The dCi 85 (4x2 version) emits just 135g of CO2/km (equivalent to a combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.1 litres/100km), which handles it Dacia’s eco² signature. The dCi 110, in 4x2 version, emits just 139g of CO2/km (equivalent to a combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.3 litres/100km) also qualifying it for the Dacia eco² signature. As for the 4x4 version the dCi 110 engine produces 145g/km of CO2 emissions with a fuel consumption of 5.6 litres/100km (combined cycle).

The range is completed by the 1.6 16V 105 petrol engine. It delivers a maximum power output of 77kW (105hp) at 5,750 rpm and torque of 148 Nm at 3,750 rpm. In terms of fuel consumption the 4x2 version spends an average of 7.5 litres/100km and the 4x4 version 8 litres/100km.

One of Dacia’s SUV main features is the affordability. To prove so, the Dacia Duster will be available from 11.900 Euros up to 18.000 Euros, a price common among the city cars.

The Duster has been launched this month with Dacia badging in Europe, Turkey and the Maghreb region (Algeria, Morocco). From next June it will also be available in Ukraine, the Middle East (Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt) and other African countries, badged as Renault.
