Special Service vehicle for 2014 with a new eight-speed automatic transmission that reduces fuel use by 15%. It is aimed at police, fire and other service fleets.

Over the standard Durango, the Special Service model gets heavy duty brakes, heavy duty battery, 220-amp alternator, heavy duty water pump, engine oil cooler and load leveling suspension. It also has LED running lights and LED taillights.

It is available with either a 3.6-liter V6 with 290hp and 260lb-ft with an eight-speed transmission or a 5.7-liter V8 with 360hp and 390lb-ft.

Inside it gets a programmable 7in LCD display in the gauge cluster, Uconnect 5in infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB, SD and auxiliary inputs. The third-row of seats are removed to increase cargo capacity.

Options include skid plates to cover the entire undercarriage, rearview camera and towing package.

Deliveries will begin in late 2013.
