Volkswagen is investing in updating its factories in Russia and will be providing vocational education to new workers. It needs workers for its new engine factory in Kaluga. It will also begin producing the Polo Global in Russia, specifically for the Russian market.
"With the Polo Global, we have developed a vehicle especially for the Russian market that is in line with local customers’ requirements and meets mobility needs in the country in the best possible way,” said VW Chairman Martin Winterkorn.
Russian workers who had just completed VW's vocational training program reported to President Putin on their experience in the program.
“Volkswagen already trains three quarters of its 16,500 apprentices throughout the world on the basis of the German dual vocational training model." said VW Head of Human Resources Dr. Horst Neumann.
