K9 flagship sedan has finally gone on sale in Korea, and it will launch internationally at the end of this year, but it will not be sold in the UK. In all likelihood it will be sold in the US later in the year, though.
The K9 is a large sedan that is 5.09m long with a 3.045m wheelbase. The car is 1.9m wide and 1.49m tall. It is initially available with a 290ps 3.8l, V8, but a 334hp, 3.8l V6 will be available in 2013. It uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car comes with LED headlights, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, 17 speaker stereo, adaptive cruise control and around-view monitor with four cameras.

“K9 is all about elegant simplicity, balanced proportions and simple surfaces. The class-leading long wheelbase, the prestige distance, large wheels, sharply upright short overhangs and a long sweeping shoulder line all work together in a harmony to give K9 a sporty, athletic proportion and a confident stance quintessential to a premium large rear-wheel drive vehicle. K9 is a clear signal of our intention and determination to compete head-to-head with the European luxury brands. And for Kia, our customers, and for me – this car is like a dream come true,” said Kia’s Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer.
