owners.
The previous lap records for Laguna Seca are slightly cloudy. The official record is a 1:07.722 held by Helio Castroneves set in qualifying during the 2000 Champ Car race at the track.
However, in August 2006 Ricardo Zonta tested a Toyota Formula 1Toyota TF106Japan, 2006 > present2 photos
car around the track and did a 1:06.039, and in 2007 Sébastien Bourdais did a 1:05.880 during Champ Car pre-season testing. Officially, a lap record can only be set during a race weekend, which is why Bourdais' and Zonta's times are not considered. Gene's time will also not be considered a new lap record at the 2.238 mile course for the same reason.
Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello raced the F2003-GA, which was named for the deceased head of Fiat Gianni Agnelli. The car had seven wins and five poles that season and won Ferrari the Drivers' Championship and Constructors' Championship.
