, with a focus on the Chinese market, Ford launched at the Beijing Motor Show a new midsize SUV concept, the MKXMKX ConceptLincoln MKX ConceptUnited States of America, 2014 > 2014.

This new vehicle is the basis of a new global model based on the Ford Edge that will hit markets over the next 18 months. The MKX has become the first ever Lincoln concept to be unveiled outside North America.

The design of the MKX is an evolution of the compact SUV MKC and is a vehicle with balanced proportions highlighted by the large shoulders, sloping roof and 21-inch rims. The vehicle also features LED headlights and a new approach to double winged Lincoln grille, where the headlights now seem to float within the grille.

During the presentation in Beijing, Ford's Chairman Alan Mulally said he believes that Lincoln is "absolutely ready to face the largest automobile market in the world." The premium brand main goals for the Chinese market is to offer products with higher value and better service compared to other luxury brands.

The launch of Lincoln in China will happen by the hand of the MKZ sedan and MKC SUV, both produced in the United States. The focus of the brand in SUVs will continue in the following years with the launch of a production version of the MKX and also a new Navigator, set for 2016.

Although Mullaly has not disclosed sales targets for Lincoln in the Chinese market, it is known that Ford intends to exceed one million sales in 2014 and that it must also be relying on the help of the premium brand.
