S Cup R as its new entry-level racecar ready to launch in 2014. It will debut at Autosport 2014 in Birmingham, England.
The Elise S Cup R is meant for weekend racers and is meant to be a step up to a dedicated racecar. It uses a mid-mounted, transverse 1.8-liter four-cylinder with an aerodynamic body kit with upgraded front splitter, barge boards, winglets, rear diffuser, floor extensions and rear wing. The suspension is upgraded with adjustable dampers, and the engine control module is remapped for extra power. Lotus claims that over a standard Elise S, the Cup R reduces lap times by 4 seconds on a 2.2-mile circuit.
“Developing the Elise S Cup R was a natural step following the success of the Exige V6 Cup R; with so many new markets becoming interested in motorsport, the Elise S Cup R gives us the perfect entry level track-car,” said Rupert Manwaring, Head of Lotus Motorsport.
