Mazda plans that the car will be a two-door coupe but with a notchback rear that will give the car a large cargo area. The design takes the current 6 and simply removes the rear doors. The design looks so handsome already that it does not take much to make the 6 look good as a coupe. 

There is a possibility that Mazda will bring back the Mazdaspeed, MPS in Europe, 6 nameplate for an even higher performance version of the coupe. 

“The CX-5 heightened the brand position. This car has to raise it further again,” said Mazda 6 program manager Hiroshi Kajiyama. 

The original Mazdaspeed (or MPS) 6Mazda 6 MPSJapan, 2004 > present used a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine that produced 257hp with all-wheel drive.
