and Skyactiv production sales due to high demand. It is expanding its factory in Ujina, Japan, by 40,000 units that will increase CX-5 annual production to 240,000 units annually. Skyactiv production will be doubled from 400,000 units a year to 800,000 units a year in October. That includes petrol and diesel versions of the Skyactiv.

Mazda has had incredibly high demand for the CX-5. Its original projection was to sell 160,000 this year, but it has already updated that estimate to 190,000. This is the first year that the CX-5 has been on sale.

The expansion to the Ujina factory had been planned but moved up because of the high demand. The upgrades allow the factory to build Skyactiv engines.

"This production capacity increase for the CX-5 demonstrates that we are working hard to deliver the vehicle to waiting customers as early as we possibly can," said Mazda CEO Takashi Yamanouchi.

and other models around the world. It plans to have the Skyactiv family of engines in 80% of its sales by 2016 and sell 1.7 million cars a year worldwide by that time.
