AMG model.
The car is still in development, and it has been seen with two different exhaust layouts and with and without a rear wing.
At one time, the car had been planned to be a lower priced SLS in the Mercedes lineup, but now the SLS will not get a successor in the near future. The new car will be the top sports car in the Mercedes model range. It will be assembled by AMG, like the SLS.
The car will use an aluminum space frame platform with a composite body. The suspension will use double wishbones in the front and multi-link setup in the rear.
Like the SLS, the can has a long hood and passenger compartment pushed back to the very rear of the car. The roof flows down to the hatch, which will give the car a hatch instead of the SLS’s trunk, and it will have conventional doors instead of the SLS’s gullwings.
Mercedes says that it is hoping to lap the Nürburgring with the new car faster than the SLS.
