revealed the third generation Cooper and Cooper S simultaneously in Europe, Japan and the United States at the end of November, and it is now teasing the concept for the next generation John Cooper Works version that will premiere at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The JCW Mini is meant to be the ultimate version of the new Mini. The biggest aesthetic changes over the Cooper S come at the front where the bumper has been significantly altered for better cooling. There is an added lower air dam and large brake cooling ducts. The grill is blacked out with black mesh and a black surround. It also has full LED headlights. At the back, the car gets a rear diffuser, cooling ducts for the rear brakes and spoiler.  It also gets a sport exhaust with twin pipes and chrome finish with carbon fiber surrounds.

The car is painted in an exclusive color called Bright Highways Grey with red accents and white stripes on the roof. It also has newly redesigned 18in John Cooper Works wheels.

Mini is promising even higher performance and suspension improvements for the JCW but is not giving any details about the changes yet. It is expected to use a version of BMW’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the Cooper S with the boost turned up even higher.

Press days for NAIAS run from January 13-14.
