on McLaren's model range. The British sports car brand has also revealed that it is starting to develop a new model which will be called P15 and sit between the 12C and the P1 on the model lineup.

The new P13 will use the same carbonfibre composite chassis as the 12C and the P1 and a version of McLaren’s ultra-compact twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine that will have a power between 450 and 500hp. Coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox the P13 should reach 100km/ in less than four seconds and reach a top speed of 297km/h.

In terms of design the P13 will be strongly inspired on the Mclaren P1. The supercar design cues will in the future also be used in the 12C.

Dimensions of the new P13 will make it smaller and lighter than the 12C with its 1400kg. McLaren will be expecting it to be a “pure driver’s car” that will be able to improve on the driving dynamics of the 12C, although it won't compete with it in terms of performance. The production model won't be called P13.

In terms of production McLaren expects that the new model will have an annual output of 2000 to 2500 units. After the launch on the main model the British brand is planning to add a Spider and extra-performance variants of the model which might increase production to a level above 4000 cars a year.

The P13 will be launched in 2015 and should be sold at a price around €146.000 and should help McLaren to generate solid profits and continue expanding its model lineup and investing in research.

McLaren already developing P15

Besides the P13 McLaren has confirmed that it has started working on a new supercar that will sit between the 12C and the P1. The model is still in the early stages development and according to McLaren Automotive chief executive Mike Flewitt is still "quite a long way off". The carbon-fiber monocoque will also be the basis of the new model.

The new supercar should get a mid-mounted turbocharged engine, likely to be a heavily revised version of the 12C's twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8. No data can be confirmed as until the model is out technology is likely to change.

When it comes into the market the model will be sold at €484.00.

Enhanced 12C

For 2014 McLaren is preparing the launch of a new version of the 12C. Following McLaren chairman Ron Dennis promise to launch “something of substance” every year the brand will be revealing a more powerful version. The new car has been developed to the Ferrari 458 Speciale and will use a modified version of the 12C's engine producing around 650hp.
