Next Generation Audi A4 Coming in 2015 with Gas and Diesel Plug-In Hybrids

Audi is working on a new generation A4 based for 2015

that will go on sale in 2015, and it seems that the car will be offered with two plug-in hybrids, one fueled by petrol and the other fueled by diesel. 

The next generation A4 will use the new Audi MLB modular platform for cars longitudinal engines. The new car will be about the same size as the current model, but the cargo area will be enlarged to allow for the battery packs for the hybrid models. 

The MLB platform is the longitudinal version of VW Group'sVolkswagenVolkswagenGermany, 1938 > present98 models

MQB platform, which is used for transverse engine cars. It will use mostly high-strength steel with aluminum body panels to drop about 100kg (220lb) over the current model. 

The plug-in hybrids will use a modular system that can be attached to petrol or diesel engines. The system will provide about 100hp and electric-only a 48km (30 mile) range. 

Beyond the plug-in hybrid models, the engine lineup will include a range of four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, many of which will have VW's new cylinder deactivation system. 

After it launches the A4, Audi will add MLB versions of the A5A5Audi A5Germany, 2007 > present197 versions
