Aston Martin has announced that the One-77 will be powered by a 7.3 litre V12 engine, which will become the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated road car engine in the world today. The engine has a power output of 750 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. The One-77 is being readied for production, with the market launch scheduled for early 2011.
Dr. Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive of Aston Martin said: “The One-77 is approaching a production reality and of course, there is considerable excitement in the project. Now the next steps are all about details and refinement to complete the composition. I know the final car will demonstrate what the Aston Martin team is capable of.”
This statement is included on the fourth part of the One-77 film series, which has already been released. In that film, Dr. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin and Marek Reichman, Director of Design present and discuss the most important elements which are responsible for the uniqueness of the One-77. On the film you can check the first complete engineering car in motion on the test track.
The One-77 will be built at Aston Martin’s global headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire. A rigorous engineering test programme has been running for the last nine months. Although it will only have 77 units built, the One-77 is being submitted to the same engineering development process as the current range of acclaimed sports cars. This includes extreme hot and cold testing plus sign-off at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The month of April saw the One-77 make its on-road debut as part of the Tourist Trophy. The Aston Martin new sports car led a parade of supercars taking the Trophy from London’s Pall Mall to the Silverstone circuit where it speeded up for a few laps.
Limited to a 77 unit production, each One-77 will be sold at a price of $1.5 million. Deliveries should start in early 2011.
