Opel has released details and images of the new Zafira Tourer Concept ahead of its official debut at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show next week.
Described by Opel as a “lounge on wheels”, the light and airy feel of the Zafira Tourer Concept - along with its high-class interior - has been designed to offer “a glimpse into the future generation Opel Zafiramonocab trendsetter.”
The lounge room feel of the ZafiraConcept is achieved through what Opel calls Flex7 seating – a push-button system that folds the third row of seats down completelyflush with the floor to transform the Zafira into a roomy four-seat cabin. Yet no matter whether four or seven are being seated, all passengers can experience the alfresco feel of the Zafira thanks to its panoramic windshield which is seamlessly melded with the glass skylight that makes up the vehicle’s entire roof.
Opel’s Vice President of Design, Mark Adams, spoke about the Zafira’s design philosophy saying “We have transferred the idea of a relaxing lounge to a vehicle and created an automobile wellness oasis, a place to relax and enjoy. Passengers can retreat in the lounge. It is a comfortable, roomy space where you really want to be – regardless if it’s for a business trip or to relax for a long journey.”
Powering the Zafira Tourer Concept is a new 1.4 litre turbocharged engine that has been downsized from the regular Zafira’s 1.6 litre engine for improved fuel efficiency.
The Opel Zafira Tourer Concept will be available for public viewing at the Geneva Motor Show from March 3-13.
