with new 16in low rolling resistance tires that drop emissions to 91g/km of CO2, compared to 99g/km of CO2 for standard tires. It uses the same diesel hybrid engine as before - a 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder linked to an electric motor.

Peugeot said that its engineers were also able to optimize the car's software to provide better efficiency. The changes improve energy recovery and efficiency at low speeds. All versions of the Hybrid4 will get the new software in September. The previous software version used 104g/km of CO2.

Models with low-rolling resistance tires use 3.5l/100km of diesel. With standard tires it uses 3.8l/100km of diesel.

The 3008 Hybrid4 starts at €37,600 in France but also gets a €2,000 discount from the French government. The updated version is available now.

Peugeot is working to apply the software upgrades to other Hybrid4 models, but it says that buyers of previous cars will not be able to bring them in to receive the update.
