Peugeot unveils 308 R Hybrid in Shanghai

is getting ready to unveil the 308 R Hybrid concept at this year's Shanghai Motor Show, a vehicle that highlights the performance capabilities of hybrid systems.

The hybrid powertrain of the 308 R Hybrid includes the same 270hp1.6-liter gasoline engine powering the RCZ R and two electric motors, one in front and one at the rear, which together provide a 500hp output and 730Nm of torque. Thanks to this combination the concept can reach 100km/h in 4.0 seconds with CO2 emissions indicated at 70g/km.

With ability to send power to all four wheels, the 308 R Hybrid gets new brakes and introduces four different driving modes: Hot Lap, Track, Road and ZEV. In the case of Hot Lap mode the car is powered by 400hp from the petrol engine and the rear electric motor, while the front electric motor acts as a booster during acceleration.

The Road mode is available and uses the 300hp gasoline engine and rear electric motor in acceleration, while the ZEV mode uses only the electric motors.

, the concept receives a grille with a checkered pattern and hood with two air intakes, one at each side. At the rear the changes are more simple and include a narrower spoiler at the top of the tailgate and two air intakes in the bumper. The latter help to cool the car battery.

Inside the vehicle maintains the same basis from the 308 range, but receives four individual sports seats in fawn leather, while the dashboard is coated in soft touch fabric usually used by Peugeot in its concepts.

The vehicle receives a steeringwheel with the same dimensions as the rest of the 308 range, but with a 308 R Hybrid badge. The automatic six-speed gearbox is controlled by paddles placed behind the steeringwheel. The concept alo includes a HUD screen.

So far there is no information about whether the Peugeot 308 R Hybrid will be produced or will be used in racing.
