have just learned that bar for safety according to Euro NCAP is always moving forward. All three cars previously held a four-star Euro NCAP score, but in the latest round of testing, they have been demoted to three stars.

According to Euro NCAP, the cars “failed to keep abreast of latest safety developments and standards.”

The reason being that they do not have side impact airbags or electronic stability control standard. When they were tested in 2005 these items were not as important and earned them a higher score. In response, all three automakers have promised to add side thorax airbags, side head curtain airbags, stability control, a passenger seatbelt reminder and ISOFIX mounts by July 2013.
