for the 2013 racing season with improved aerodynamics and better reliability. In its second year as a customer GT3 car, McLaren has grabbed nine-team WRC champion Sebastien Loeb as a customer who will race the car in the FIA GT Series. It will be available to international racing teams for the first time in 2013 after only be available to European teams in 2012.
The 2013 12C GT3 is meant to be more reliable and efficient than last year's car. The car has an updated exterior design with better aerodynamics, a new ECU, new electrical system and upgraded suspension. McLaren claims that new aerodynamics improves the car's balance and increase tire life. The cooling system has also been upgraded to cope with higher temperatures of international racing, especially in Asia. The hood has more ducting to route cool air to the engine, and there are extra cooling ducts in the rear as well.
Sebastien Loeb Racing will race two 2013 12C GT3s in the FIA GT Series. Loeb and McLaren GT factory driver Alvaro Parente will drive one car, and the other drivers will be named later.
The updated 12 GT3 retails for £325,000, and McLaren will also offer upgrade kits for last year's cars.
The 2012 12C GT3 raced in 98 races last year among 13 teams. The cars took 19 victories and 19 podium finishes.
