will be getting at least three new variants next year, and rumors persist that VW is working on a new compact SUV. To meet its goal of selling 10 million cars a year group-wide, it had to add models to the lineup to fill previously ignored niches.
Next year, the Up will get a sporty GT variant, efficient Electric version and mainland Europe will get a model fueled with compressed natural gas. The GT version will use a new tune of VW's 1.0-liter three cylinder engine with 109ps, which is 34ps more than the current top model. The CNG fueled version will emit 79g/km of CO2. The Electric Up will come in the first half of 2013 as well, but this model will technically by a hybrid. An all-electric version will debut sometime in 2014, if the hybrid version proves a success.
Rumors continue that VW is working on a compact SUV. We first heard this rumor during the commercial vehicles show in Hannover, and it has continued during the Paris Motor Show. Reportedly, the model would be made to take on rivals like the Nissan JukeNissan JukeJapan, 2010 > present135 versions
