German boutique sports car maker Wiesmann has filed for bankruptcy in Münster, Germany, on August 14.

Brothers Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann founded the company in 1993 and its backbone was building classically styled sports cars with modern BMW engines. The company built about 200 cars a year.

The company has not responded to any press inquiries about the bankruptcy yet, so it is not yet known whether the company is going completely out of business and liquidating or refinancing debt with creditors.
