General Characteristics

Designed and tested in Japan, the new Micra was developed and built using the new V-platform to satisfy customers of 160 different countries, where the model is sold. The base production of the new Micra will be settled in Thailand, India, Mexico and China.

In terms of design the Micra maintains its compact dimensions and a stylized version of the distinctive arched side window line, connects it to the model’s heritage and identity. The new generation features a double-layer integrated grill that, according to Makoto Yamane, Associate Product Chief Designer, is supposed to grant the Micra a stylish look and an air of sophistication.

The new Micra will only be available in two engine options. They will both be variations of Nissan’s naturally aspirated HR12 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine and will employ valve-timing control (VTC). The standard version has a power output of 80 PS with a maximum torque of 108 Nm, with CO2 emissions of 115g/km. Nissan’s city car will also be available in a supercharged 1.2-litre direct injection version, equipped with a start-stop system as standard in Europe. With CO2 emissions being lowered to 95g/km, this version has a maximum power of 98 PS and torque of 142 Nm. The two engine versions will be available with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or Nissan's all-new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

2013 Facelift

In 2013 Nissan introduced the Micra with all-new styling and a brand new interior but still based on the fourth-gen Micra chassis.

The biggest change to the Micra was made to the exterior with a front end inspired by the Juke. The entire frontend has new sheet metal. It features a chrome V-shaped grill with new accents on the hood. The fenders are reshaped and higher, and the fog lights are moved to the bottom corners of the front bumper. At the rear, the Micra has a new bumper with LED taillights.

The refreshed car gets a new 1.2-liter direct injected, supercharged gasoline engine with 97hp with stop/start that uses 4.1l/100km and emits 95g/km of CO2. Fuel economy is 4% better than the previous version. The base 1.2-liter is still available with 79hp that emits 115g/km of CO2. Both engines come with either a five-speed manual or CVT.

Inside, the Micra gets a new center console, new gloss black and silver trim, a USB input and Aux input. There is also an optional 5.8in touchscreen navigation system that can find the most fuel-efficient route and allows users to send their route to the car via Google.

Other added options include two new colors - pearl metallic Pacific Blue and metallic Platinum Sage - and new style 15in- or 16in wheels. There is also a Parking Slot Measurement system that tells the driver whether the car can fit into a spot, and there is optional I-Key with keyless entry and keyless engine start.
