Porsche presented this updated version of its 911 GT3 RSR for the 2011 motorsport season at the “Night of Champions” party held at the R&D Centre in Weissach, marking the end of the 2010 motorsport season.
The main focus of the engineers was the aerodynamics at the front and rear, the suspension kinematics and the engine. The 911 GT3 RSR 2011 is powered by the same 4.0-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine as its predecessor, but engine power has been enhanced to 455 hp at 7,800 rpm, an increase of five hp. The power upgrade is possible thanks to the engine management system which adapts to different fuel grades, as well as a redesigned exhaust system and a modified air intake housing. The driveability has also been improved, with maximum revs remaining at 9,400 rpm.
The most obvious modifications can be found at the front of the new 911 GT3 RSR. The 2011 version has a new front lip that provides higher downforce at the front axle. The race car has been fitted with wider front wheels, with rims growing from 11 to 12 inches giving additional grip and less of an understeering tendency.
The rear wing also suffered modifications in terms of its position as well as its mounting shape. In order to optimize air ducting the rear id also received a new design. As with the 911 GT3 Cup and the GT3 R, the RSR will now be equipped with the LED rear lights taken from the latest 911 road-legal cars.
Joining the 911 GT3 R and the 911 GT3 Cup as the top model of Porsche Motorsport’s product range, the 911 GT3 RSR is sold at a price of 410,000 Euro plus country-specific value added tax. For the 2010 models, Porsche also offers a kit with all 2011 modifications.

It has also been made in Cabriolet and Targa versions. Larger and clearly more sophisticated than Porsche’s previous models, the rear-engined 911 was said to be the main opponent to the Jaguar E Type,... more
