, Lewis Hamilton got the better of Nico Rosberg once again, this time in the United States Grand Prix, in Austin.

Rosberg started from pole and held the lead during the first part of the race. But from the moment the Mercedes changed to the medium tires, Hamilton was clearly stronger than the German and used the DRS system to overtake his team-mate at turn 12, on lap 24.

From that moment on Hamilton had no further opposition and could enjoy his 10th win of the season and thus increase the lead over Rosberg in the championship to 24 points. With this victory Hamilton also became the British driver with the most wins in Formula 1.

The Australian started slowly from fifth place and lost four positions immediatly but still recovered in the first lap up to the sixth. After the exit of the safety car caused by Sergio Perez crash into Raikkonen and Adrian Sutil, Ricciardo immediately overtook Alonso and passed the two Williams during the pitstops.

Felipe Massa and Valteri Bottas finished fourth and fifth, with the Brazilian staying ahead of his teammate. Alonso finished in sixth place.

To protect the engine by having already exceeded the limit of five engines per season, Sebastian Vettel chose to start with a low downforce configuration. The German had pace difficulties in the beginning but recovered to sixth place, however, he eventually was overtaken by Alonso in the closing laps.
