has today become the second team to reveal the car for the 2014 season of Formula 1 , a year in which there are many questions about the impact of new rules on the team's performances.
After a season below standards, McLaren returns with the MP4- 29MP4-29McLaren MP4-29United Kingdom, 2014 > 2014, with historic team boss Ron Dennis and Jenson Button and newcomer Kevin Magnussen to fightback.

Changes in regulations for 2014 may have been the lifeline for McLaren that had been losing contact with the front of the peloton in recent years. In 2013 the team did not reach any podium, the first time since 1980, and was just fifth in the constructors' world championship.

“We’ve made no secret of our disappointment at how the 2013 season turned out. The aim now is to get back to winning – that’s what McLaren exists to do – but there’s a certain amount of growth and regrowth that needs to take place before we return to a position where we can challenge for the world championship.

This will be the first season of the 1.6 V6 turbo engines, but will also be the last season that McLaren will use Mercedes engines since for 2015 it has already confirmed the move to Honda. Because of the cooling needs of the new engine and regeneration systems the car sidepod openings are also larger.
