won this weekend the world constructors' title, the first as an official team. Lewis Hamilton excelled their opponents once again and managed to extend his lead in the championship to 17 points over Rosberg.

The two Mercedes started on the front row, with Hamilton on pole position, but the German tried a later braking to overtake his team-mate at the end of the finish line. However this effort ended up costing him the race as the heavy braking eventually damaged his car and at the end of the first lap Rosberg came into the pits and totally changed his race strategy.

From there onwards Hamilton had an easier run, with no opposition, and won the ninth victory of the season, equaling the British record of wins from Nigel Mansell, with 31 victories. Rosberg still managed to recover to second place making the second set of tires last 52 laps.

Valteri Bottas who ran most of the race in second had to settle for third. After making the second stop it was clear that Rosberg was able to bring the tires up to the end of the race.

and the best of the cars with no Mercedes engine. The Spanish was running in fourth place in the early stages of the race, but didn't manage to hold the McLarens, finishing in sixth place. Ricciardo was seventh, again ahead of the current world title holder Sebastian Vettel.

Far behind was Kimi Raikkonen who brought a ninth place from Russia ahead of Sergio Perez, who despite fears of exceding fuel consumption grabbed the last point available in the race.
