at the Circuit of the Americas, but it could not get authorization soon enough. Now the test is planned for Vallelunga.

The problem for Pirelli continues to be the sporting regulations in Formula 1. In-season testing in banned from the sport, and constructors may only sell cars that are at least two seasons old. That makes it impossible for Pirelli to get access to current cars for tire testing.

The work-around created since the Mercedes test is that Pirelli has to get authorization for the test from the FIA, and then it has to go to each team and get individual authorization.

McLaren did not want to take on the extra expense of bringing another car to the United States, and the new plan is to test at Vallelunga on November 11 and 12.

Even if the test goes through, no 2014 cars exist to test the tires on. McLaren says that it will use a 2011 carMP4-26McLaren MP4-26United Kingdom, 2011 > 20115 photos

and the team’s test drivers if the test is authorized to avoid being accused of in-season testing.
