has launched a web site promoting the Prius Plug-in that allows consumers to enter their normal commute and view and estimate of the fuel economy that they would get on the journey.

The site only works with Google Chrome for the moment and asks visitors to enter the start and end of their destination. While loading, visitors can learn more about the Prius Plug-inPrius Plug-in HybridToyota Prius Plug-in HybridJapan, 2011 > present2 photos
. Once the map is loaded, it plays a video using images from Google Maps showing a fish eye view of the electric portion of the route. Then it shows the rest of the journey on a conventional map and ends with a Google Map view of the destination. It also shows the car's estimated fuel economy and emissions.

The video and pre-programmed routes on the site are geared toward Europe, but it will work with any destinations that have Google Maps data.
