before the North American International Auto Show, but since revealing the car, it has revealed the mechanical details about the car. The latest generation will get three engine options, but only two of those will come to North America at least for now.

The third generation is available as the IS 250, IS 350 and IS 300h. The IS 250 and IS 350 use carry over engines from the last generation with 204hp and 306hp respectively from their 2.5-liter and 3.5-liter V6 engine. Both are available with either rear- or all-wheel drive. The final engine option will be a hybrid 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine, but Lexus says that it will only be available in Europe, Japan and a few other markets. Lexus is not offering it in the US because it already have the CT 200hCTLexus CTJapan, 2010 > present21 versions

. Europe gets it because there is no diesel model.

All cars get a multi-mode transmission with Eco, Normal, Sport and Sport S+ only on the IS 350 modes. The IS 350 also gets an eight-speed automatic. The transmission has a G-force sensor that automatically switches to a sportier shift mode when it senses high G loads.

For buyers who want a sportier car, all of the engines will be available in the F Sport trim package that tunes the suspension and power steering to be sportier. These cars also get functional front brake cooling ducts and 18in wheels. Inside, buyers get an instrument panel inspired by the LFALFA Gen.0Lexus LFA Gen.0Japan, 2012 > present4 versions
