Performance Concept. There is not much differentiating the car from standard Passats on the outside, but it gets quite a boost in power.

Currently, the Passat is only available with three engines in the US - a 2.5-liter five-cylinder petrol, a 3.6-liter VR6 and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel. The Performance concept uses the 1.8 TFSI EA888 engine with 250hp and a six-speed automatic transmission. Oddly, this would not top the Passat range. The 3.6 VR6 produces 280hp. Although, the new four-cylinder would have much better fuel economy.

Other than the engine, Volkswagen has added bi-xenon front headlights, LED taillights, 19in wheels, dual exhausts, and carbon trim. There is also carbon trim for the interior.

Volkswagen is not saying anything else about the Passat Performance Concept. It would make sense for VW to transition from the 2.5-liter five cylinder in North America to a more efficient turbo four-cylinder, but that could cause prices to increase as well.
