2012 Civic to Get New Diesel Engine

Honda will be unveiling the new Civic for Europe at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but it is releasing a series of videos detailing the changes ahead of the car's reveal. While we still do not know exactly what the car will look like, Honda will be releasing a new 2.2 liter, i-DTEC four-cylinder diesel engine with the new model.

The diesel engine makes 150hp and 350Nm of torque, and according to Honda, it emits 110g/km of CO2. The new engine also uses start/stop functionality to further decrease emissions. Honda claims that the engine has been optimized to produce a maximum amount of torque across a large rev range.

The new Civic will be available in Europe in 2012, but Honda has not revealed any specifics about the price. Expect more information when Honda reveals the 2012 Civic at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
