at the Knowsley Safari Park in Merseyside, UK.
Hyundai is trying to get the i30 noticed by families, and how better than releasing a video of the five-door hatchback being beset by monkeys. Hyundai used heavy duty interior materials, easy-wipe plastics and high quality steel for the body work.
The baboons at Knowsley are known for their destructive habits with cars, and according to one of the workers enjoy ripping the number plates off of cars and using them as a skateboard.
“At Hyundai we believe in new thinking, which is why we decided to take a new approach with this durability test. You have to be pretty brave to subject a car to the most rigorous quality testers in the world, and the monkeys certainly gave our New Generation i30 a thorough examination! The fact that it survived with only a few scrapes is testament to the way a modern Hyundai is designed and engineered," said Felicity Wood, i30 Product Manager.
Hyundai donated £1,000 to the Primate Society of Great Britain in thanks for letting them use the Knowsley Park baboons.
The Knowsley Safari Park is outside of Liverpool and in addition to monkeys houses elephants, giraffes, lions and tigers.
