Bentley Gets £3M Grant from British Government to Develop New Powertrain

Bentley has recieved a £3 million grant from the Department for Business Regional Growth Fund in England for the development of a new powertrain aimed specifically at export markets. The development will require 200 jobs that Bentley already has and add a few additional positions to the company.

What it means that Bentley will develop a powertrain specifially for export markets is unclear. India and China are the two fastest growing markets, but what it already produces should be fine for those markets. It said that it is looking towards powertrains to anticipate changing demand. Could this mean a cleaner, greener Bentley, perhaps with a hybrid drive? We will just have to wait and see.

Earlier this year Bentley recieved a £1.68 million grant from the same organization to hire and train more manufacturing workers.
