to create a series hybrid luxury car. It will enter production as a 2014 model. Cadillac will show the production version at the North American International Auto Show on January 14.
GM's Detroit-Hamtramck will get $35 million in improvements to build the car. The Volt is already built there.
“The ELR will be in a class by itself, further proof of our commitment to electric vehicles and advanced technology. People will instantly recognize it as a Cadillac by its distinctive, signature look and true-to-concept exterior design," said GM President Mark Reuss.
Similar to the Volt, the ELR is meant to push the envelope in terms of styling. The ELR is a coupe with the newest version of Cadillac's Art and Science styling and will have styling based on the Converj concept. It had thin headlights that go from low on the bumper to over the front fenders. It also had a large windshield that sweeps over the driver and deep creases over the sides.
