The concept DS 5LS R shows more possibilities for DS 5LS model, recently released for the Chinese market. The vehicle that will be unveiled at Beijing keeps the grid "DS Wings" of the production model, but its lines are more prominent.
In a clear reference to the commitment to the WRC and the Citroën DS3 Racing the DS 5LS R is equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter with 300hp and 400Nm of torque. Compared to the production model, the chassis of the DS 5LS R is 15mm lower and has a wider front axle. The vehicle was fitted with a sequential gearbox controlled by paddles installed on the steering wheel. The brakes and suspension have also undergone some updates, but when it comes to performance, this focus can be seen through some components such as the air intake, the panel on the bumpers and lower body panel made of carbon.
The DS 5LS R uses the already famous anodized crimson red paint with a matte metallic finish that has been used in other vehicles of the DS range. Citroën has added some sidebands wide matte carbon gray on the front doors in order to highlight that the prototype belongs to the "R" range of sports cars, side by side with the DS3 Cabrio Racing. The "R" signature is present above the grid, in the back and on the side of the car.
Inside, the new concept a leather and Alcantara lining with new upholstery and DS logos embossed. Further details of carbon fiber were also placed on the steering wheel and on the door handles and panels.
As with the DS 5LS, the R version will probably only be sold in the Chinese market, in case it gets to production.
