Citroën plans DS4 Racing for 2013

With hot hatches becoming more and more popular Citroën is planning to produce a hot hatch version of its new DS4. According to the German magazine Auto Bild this version should only arrive to the roads in 2013.

The German magazine states that Citroën is already working on a hybrid DS4 Racing model. Similar to the DS3 R (Racing), the Citroen DS4 Racing Hybrid will be a sporty, and green, version of the regular DS4.

The Racing incarnation of the DS4 will be powered by a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine delivering 200 hp and an electric motor with an output of 95 hp. While the internal combustion engine will send its power to the front wheels, the electric unit will power the rear axle.

When it comes to the roads the DS4 Racing will be competing with its 295 hp against vehicles in the upper part of the performance hatches segment, such as the Volkswagen Golf R and the Audi S3.

The new DS4 Racing is expected to make its world debut sometime in 2013. As for the standard DS4, it will go on sale in 2011.
