Electric Skoda Octavia Green E Line Testing in Czech Republic

Skoda has a test fleet of 10 electric Octavia Combis in Mladà Boleslav in the Czech Republic. This Octavia is the first pure electric vehicle made by Skoda, and it is in testing to gain knowledge about one day making a production version.

The electric motor in the Octavia Green E Line produces 85kW, 114hp, and 270Nm of torque. It accelerates to 100km/h in 12 seconds with a top speed of 135km/h. Currently, the Green E Line has a range of 150km.

The battery pack is located under the cargo area. It is 233mm long, 55mm wide and weighs 315kg. Skoda says that it takes 8 hours to charge the battery on a 230v power supply or 2 hours on a 400v supply.

Skoda says that the Octavia Green E Line is just a test vehicle, but it intends to eventually produce a full electric vehicle.

"ŠKODA and the entire Volkswagen Group have a long-time aim, and that is sustainable mobility based on renewable energy sources. There is no doubt electric propulsion is becoming more and more important for mobility with as low emissions as possible. Working as we are with our Group partners, we think we are making very good progress,” said Dr. Eckhard Scholz, board member in charge of research and development.

VAG would have the benefit to be able to spread the development costs accross its brands if it wanted to go electric.
