In a preview of next weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel have stated that the team should not fear anything. Nevertheless both drivers have to admit that the long straights of the Spa-Francorchamp circuit might reduce their chances of winning.
Throughout the 2010 season the RB6 has been setting the pace but the Red Bull team is the first to admit that the car’s major weakness is its straight-line speed performance, especially in comparison with the Mclaren car.
With the first and third sectors not being ideal for the Red Bull team, the RB6 will still manage to take some advantage from the high speed corners at Spa.
Still Webber and Vettel keep a positive attitude and will be willing to have something to say during Sunday’s race in order to keep their bid for the world title on track.
"It's an incredible circuit to drive on. I expect we can do well there, whether it's as well as I did in Budapest is a question for everyone, but I know our team is ready," said Webber.
As for Vettel he said: "I love Spa, it has some of the best corner sections in Formula 1. They're long, fast-flowing and suit our car. We were very competitive in the race there last year, but we lost out in qualifying a bit.
"Our weakness will be the long straights and, with uphill sections too, we know it won't be easy for us, but I am optimistic for the race," he added.
