Ferrari has had a relative success by charging the very wealthy for the right to drive the 599XX, one of its fastest cars, without actually being able to own it. For the 2012-2013 development season, Ferrari has evolved the car even more by adding 20hp bringing it up to 750hp at a 9,000rpm redline and cutting weight by 35kg (77lbs).
As well as the additional power and lower weight, Ferrari sharpened the 599XX chassis dynamics with active aerodynamics and new Pirelli tires. The rear wing is similar to that used on current Formula 1 cars with two flaps that open electronically at certain speeds and steering angles. In addition to the active aero enhancements, Ferrari tweaked the front splitter and rear diffuser to gain 330kg with the flaps open and 440kg when they are closed at 200km/h.
The new version of the 599XX was unveiled at the Bologna Motor Show and will be used for the 2012-2013 season.
